so, while watching television today, two of the best movies of all time came on AT ONCE.
i hate it when that happens. because then i am torn and i feel the need to flip back and forth on the commercials, which probably tells me something about myself psychologically, but i don’t know what.
anyway, those two movies were ‘the voyage of the unicorn’ and ‘jesus christ superstar’ circa 1973.
the former was one i had never seen before and instantly fell in love with; it’s incredible and amazing and is pretty much what would happen if my sister, dad and i were transported into a mythical world. no joke. we could actually guess what everyone was going to say or do based upon our true life reactions. it was definitely worth it. thank god JCSS was on ‘on demand’, because my sister and i wanted to have a dance off and see who did a better judas.
she won.
but it was still fun. that version is pretty much my favorite. it’s so trippy, and i love the music. i get the songs stuck in my head all the time. i’ve seen the stage version, and it’s amazing. so is the other (more recent i believe) version. i can even recall getting into a huge argument with someone in my theater class in high school (it was a small, christian school) over this musical. my love for this, however, has remained strong. and this 1973 version (complete with guards in lilac, pilate emblazoned spaghetti strap tanktops!) is highly, highly recommended.
